KCL Joins Forces With About The Stage

KCL Engineering has forged a strategic partnership with About The Stage, a specialized firm providing theatre consulting, theatrical systems design, and specialty lighting design. ATS provides a central role for performing arts and venue design projects, offering valuable insights, experience, and constructability understanding that benefits both designers and operators. This partnership provides clients an integration of services under a single source of responsibility, provided by firms with a mutual respect and genuine interest to serve clients more holistically.

KCL Managing Principal, James Deeds, has had his sights set on a partnership for several years. “Part of KCL Engineering’s core value set is to pursue work that interests us. With a background in musical performance I am very driven to bring the best team forward in these exciting and challenging venues. A partnership with About The Stage, along with KCL’s stellar MEPT team, creates a synergy to be the leader in theatre consulting and design in our market areas.”

The partnership has roots dating back 12 years when KCL team members and ATS founder, Chris Tilton, were colleagues at a mid-sized MEPT firm. “I have respected Chris Tilton’s knowledge and professionalism for many years,” Deeds explains. “He is an exceptional client advocate and is extremely effective providing guidance to design teams.”

Chris Tilton brings a breadth of theatre arts experience, gained over 30 years from roles in regional theatre operations and systems design at national A/E firms. “Providing theatre consulting alongside my friends at KCL Engineering is an outstanding opportunity that will result in a greater collaborative product from the entire project team. Not only are our services complementary, but we share a common workstyle which emphasizes a consultant mentality, flexibility, personal service, and custom solutions.”

Deeds believes KCL’s past and current customers who enjoy KCL’s consulting style will be first to take advantage of the KCL+ATS suite of performance venue services.
