KCL Engineering's Mike Salmon provided an overview of the engineering design process he led for the new Charles City Middle School. Featured in the Iowa Association of Building Maintenance Engineer's March/April 2017 Newsletter, read how systems were analyzed and selected based on first cost, life cycle and maintenance costs, instructional needs, and building use. Elements of this school have been coined "The Classroom of the Future" based on how the district and designers challenged themselves to create spaces that would provide the best environment for evolving teaching styles while accommodating the different ways in which students learn.
